Edge Rewards

Is Edge Rewards Really Free? How It Works (UK 2026)

The honest answer on cost, what you get, and where the value actually comes from.

TL;DR

  • Yes, Edge Rewards is genuinely free: free to join, free to earn and free to redeem, for every member, with no paywall on rewards.
  • You earn up to 50 points a day for the training you already do, so points build in the background while you run, lift and move.
  • You spend points in an in-app marketplace on real products from partner brands, a mix of free items and discounts.
  • The reason it costs you nothing is simple: rewards are partner-gifted, so brands provide the products, not you.
  • Edge Rewards launches in October 2026. Join the waitlist now for founding-member early access.

If a fitness app promises to reward you for working out, a healthy first reaction is to ask where the catch is. That is fair. Plenty of programmes turn out to have a fee, a lock-in, or fine print that quietly does the opposite of rewarding you. So here is an honest guide to Edge Rewards, our free rewards programme. We will cover what it costs, which is nothing, how it works, what you can actually earn, and where the value really comes from.

So, is Edge Rewards really free?

Yes. Edge Rewards is free to join, free to earn and free to redeem. There is no separate fee, no rewards-only subscription, and no paywall standing between you and the marketplace. Every Edge member can take part, including members who use the free app and never pay a penny.

That is worth being clear about, because some schemes make you buy in before you see any benefit. Edge does not. You earn points simply by training, and you spend them on real products. The programme is one of the reasons Edge has grown to 18,000+ members, and we want it to feel like a genuine thank you for moving, not a sales funnel in disguise.

How does Edge Rewards work?

The idea is simple. You get rewarded for the training you already do. Every day you can earn up to 50 points, and they come from two places.

  • 1 point for every minute of any logged workout, up to 50 points a day.
  • 2.5 points for every 1,000 steps, up to 25 points a day.

Those two combine into a single daily cap of 50 points, and points do not roll over from day to day, so there is no pressure to chase huge numbers. A steady, consistent week counts for a lot. Any logged workout qualifies, whether that is a run, a strength session, a HIIT class or a mobility flow. Manual entries count too, as do imports from Strava, Apple Health, Garmin and Coros, so sessions you track elsewhere still earn.

In practice, the maths is friendly. Log a 45 minute run and that is 45 points before your steps are even counted. Add a busy 10,000 step day on top and that would be another 25, though the combined cap keeps your daily total at 50. Train most days of the week and you will build toward that free coffee without ever going out of your way, because the points come from sessions you were doing anyway.

Points reset to zero at the end of each calendar month. That is by design, and we explain why just below.

Do the monthly resets mean I lose out?

Not really, and here is the thinking behind it. Resetting to zero each month sounds strict, but it keeps the marketplace fair and the rewards flowing. Instead of a small group banking points for years while everyone else waits, every member starts each month on a level footing and is nudged to redeem what they have earned while it is fresh. If you train with any regularity, you will have plenty to spend before the clock turns over. The habit is the point, not the hoard.

What can you actually earn?

You spend your points in an in-app marketplace stocked with real products from partner brands. It is a mix of free items and discounts, so some rewards cost points alone while others knock money off something you were going to buy anyway.

The categories are the kind of things active people actually use: coffee and drinks, gels, snacks and bars, protein and supplements, and apparel and gear. Those are examples of the sorts of products you will see, not a fixed list. To give you a sense of scale, about a week of training is enough to earn a free coffee.

Because it blends free items and discounts, the marketplace suits different budgets and goals. If you are chasing a genuine freebie, you can save your points for the rewards that cost points alone. If you would rather take money off a bigger purchase, the discounts do that instead. Either way, the points came from training you had already planned, so whatever you claim sits on top of the work, not as a reason to pile on more of it.

Two things worth stressing. First, these are real products, not cash and not crypto. Second, we do not name specific partner brands here, because the line-up will grow and change over time. What stays constant is that everything in the marketplace is something you can claim with points you earned by training.

What is the catch?

Here is the honest version. There is no catch in the sense of a hidden cost to you, but it is fair to ask how a free programme funds real products. The answer is that rewards are partner-gifted.

Brands provide products because they want to reach an engaged, active audience: people who train regularly and care about what they eat, drink and wear. Reaching those people through Edge is valuable to a brand, so the brand supplies the reward. That is why it costs you nothing. You are the reason the reward exists, not the one paying for it.

A few other points, in the spirit of full honesty:

  • Points reset each month, so the programme nudges you to spend them while they are fresh rather than hoarding them forever. Use them while they are warm.
  • Not every reward is free outright. The marketplace is a blend of free items and discounts, and each reward is clearly labelled so you always know what your points get you.
  • It is real products, not money. Nobody hands you cash, and there is no crypto or token involved.
  • You will never be asked for card details to claim a reward you have already earned with points.

Who pays for what?

It can help to see the money, or lack of it, laid out plainly. Here is who covers what across the programme.

How is Edge Rewards different from Edge Pro?

This trips people up, so let us separate the two clearly. Edge Rewards is the free rewards programme described above, open to every member. Edge Pro is something different: it is our premium subscription, £19.99 a month with a free 7-day trial.

Edge Pro is about your training, not your rewards. It gives you a fully personalised plan across running, strength, HIIT and mobility, ready in 15 minutes, plus a real coach you can message anytime. Edge treats running, strength and HIIT as one hybrid plan, which is the part single-discipline apps tend to miss.

Pro members do get a rewards edge. They earn faster with Double XP, they have no daily cap so their earning is uncapped, and they unlock exclusive prizes and secret offers. But, and this is the important bit, the rewards programme itself is free for everyone. You never have to pay to earn points or to redeem them. Pro simply earns quicker.

When does Edge Rewards launch?

Edge Rewards launches in October 2026, so it is not live just yet. Everything above is what it will do when it goes live. If you like the sound of getting rewarded for training you were doing anyway, the best move now is to join the waitlist. Founding members get early access and are first in the queue when real rewards go live.
