HYROX World Championships 2027 in Hong Kong: Dates and How Qualifying Works

The 2027 championships run from 10 to 13 June in Hong Kong, and every 2026/27 race up to mid-May is a qualifier. Here is how a slot actually works, in plain English.

TL;DR

  • The HYROX World Championships 2027 take place from 10 to 13 June 2027 at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong, the first time the event has been held in Asia-Pacific.
  • Every HYROX race of the 2026/27 season up to the event weekend of 16 May 2027 holds slots for Hong Kong. Later races count towards 2028.
  • Slots go to the Pro and Mixed Doubles divisions, at least one per age group at every event. For 60+ age groups, the slot goes to the Open divisions instead.
  • Offers arrive by email 2 days after the race, and you have 48 hours to accept and pay. HYROX does not extend that window.
  • HYROX says only around the top 0.5% of its racers qualify, so for most of us the real goal is a personal best.

The HYROX World Championships 2027 will be held in Hong Kong from 10 to 13 June 2027 at AsiaWorld-Expo, and you qualify by finishing at the top of your age group in an eligible division at any HYROX race of the 2026/27 season up to the weekend of 16 May 2027. HYROX bills its Birmingham race, from 27 October to 1 November at the NEC, as the kick-off of the 2026/27 season, so for UK racers the road to Hong Kong starts in under two weeks.

HYROX announced Hong Kong as the host in June 2026, making it the first World Championships in the Asia-Pacific region, following Stockholm in June 2026. Below are the dates, which races and divisions count, and how the 48-hour offer works. Everything here comes from HYROX's own World Championships and event pages at the time of writing. Rules can change, so check those pages before you enter. Edge is not affiliated with HYROX.

When and where are the HYROX World Championships 2027?

The championships run over four days, from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 June 2027, at AsiaWorld-Expo, a large exhibition centre on Chek Lap Kok, the island that is also home to Hong Kong's international airport.

HYROX says the age-group races will take place in a different hall from the Elite races, and that separate spectator tickets might be needed. The day-by-day schedule for each division had not been announced at the time of writing, and HYROX's event page said ticket sales would start soon. If you are following from home, Hong Kong is 7 hours ahead of UK time in June, so a morning start there lands in the early hours here.

Which races count as qualifiers for Hong Kong?

HYROX's rule is simple. Every event of the 2026/27 season up to the event weekend of 16 May 2027 holds slots for Hong Kong. Races held after that date count as qualifiers for the 2028 World Championships instead.

You can qualify at any HYROX race around the world within the season, not only races in your own country. In the UK, early races on the 2026/27 calendar include:

  • HYROX Birmingham: Tuesday 27 October to Sunday 1 November 2026, at the NEC.
  • HYROX London: Wednesday 2 to Sunday 6 December 2026, at ExCeL London.

Other UK dates were still being confirmed when we checked, so see HYROX's Find My Race page for the full calendar. If Birmingham is your first race, our HYROX Birmingham 2026 first-timer guide covers the venue, the provisional schedule and a simple three-week countdown.

Which divisions earn a World Championships slot?

This is the part many everyday racers miss. HYROX says every Pro division and every Mixed Doubles division at each event offers at least one qualification slot per age group. The exception is the 60+ age groups, where the slot goes to the Open divisions instead.

Read plainly, that means if you are under 60 and race the standard Open singles division, or Men's or Women's Open Doubles, your result does not earn a World Championships slot under the 2027 rules. If Hong Kong is the goal, check you have entered a division that carries slots before you book.

At the championships themselves, HYROX says all divisions race Pro weights and reps, except Mixed Doubles and racers aged 60+, who race Open weights and reps. If you are not sure what changes between Open and Pro, our guide to HYROX divisions and weights breaks down every load, station by station.

How does a World Championships slot offer work?

Even if you top your age group, nothing is confirmed until an offer lands in your inbox and you act on it. Here is the process.

StepWhat happens
Race dayYou race. What counts is your ranking within your division and age group at that event.
2 days laterHYROX emails an offer to the highest-ranked racer in each division age group who has not already qualified for 2027. Anyone already qualified in that division is skipped.
48-hour windowYou must accept and pay within 48 hours of the email being sent. HYROX says extensions are not possible, and your place is only secured once payment has gone through.
Roll-downIf the top racer declines or lets the offer expire, the slot passes to the next eligible racer in the results. Missing the deadline means you need another qualifying race.
DoublesEach partner gets their own email, and both must accept and pay their share within the same 48 hours, or the slot moves on to the next team.

Do you need a HYROX licence to qualify? No. HYROX says all registered racers can earn a slot, with or without its licence. The licence does affect the roll-down: a slot can pass through any number of licence holders, but it only reaches a set number of non-licence holders per event (two at most events, HYROX says) before it closes. HYROX says this mainly matters in the busy 25 to 39 age groups, where many licence holders are chasing Elite Series ranking points.

What season rules should you know before you chase a slot?

These 2026/27 season rules are the ones most likely to catch out an everyday racer:

  • Get your details right when you enter. Your name, date of birth, nationality and a personal email address must be correct, and doubles partners need two different emails. HYROX only accepts corrections within 14 days of the race.
  • Three declines and you are out. Decline or let an offer expire three times in one division and you get no more offers in it this season.
  • One open offer at a time. A pending offer from an earlier race blocks new offers until its 48-hour window closes.
  • One forfeit per division. You can give up an accepted slot once per division per season and try again, but it is not refunded and cannot be reclaimed.
  • Your age group is locked. You race in the age group you qualified in, even if you have a birthday before June. Qualify at 39 and you race 35 to 39.
  • No refunds or transfers. Registrations cannot be transferred, refunded or deferred, and doubles partners cannot be swapped.
  • More than one division is allowed. You can qualify in singles and doubles, but not in the same division twice, and clashing start times are your risk.

Is qualifying for Hong Kong realistic for an everyday racer?

For most of us, honestly, no, and that is fine. HYROX describes the championship field as the top 0.5% of its racers. To get an offer you usually need to finish first in your age group among racers who have not already qualified, in a Pro or Mixed Doubles division, and the roll-down only goes so far.

Most people who sign up for HYROX are racing for themselves: a first finish, a faster time than last season, or a fun doubles race with a friend. If you are wondering what a sensible target looks like, our guide to what counts as a good HYROX time for beginners is a better starting point than a qualifying list.

If you are genuinely close to the top of your age group, a little planning before race day goes a long way:

  • Decide in advance whether you would accept. 48 hours is not long to sort travel, time off and the entry fee, so agree it beforehand, including with a doubles partner.
  • Check your registration details as soon as you enter, especially your email address.
  • Think about the trip. Hong Kong is long-haul from the UK, so allow a few days for jet lag if you can.

How should you train if Hong Kong, or a new PB, is the goal?

Whatever your goal, HYROX is 8km of running split into eight 1km runs, each followed by a workout station. That means your week needs running, strength and station practice working together, not three separate programmes fighting for your time.

  • Run two or three times a week, with one steady, longer run and one session of 1km repeats at race effort.
  • Lift twice a week: squats and lunges for the legs, pushing and pulling for the sleds, and carries for grip.
  • Do one HYROX-style session a week that mixes runs with stations, so you get used to running on tired legs.
  • Train at the weights you will race. If Pro is your route to a slot, practise with Pro loads well before race day.
  • Plan the whole season. If you qualify in the autumn, June is months away, so build steadily rather than racing flat out every month.
