Something big just happened in fitness. Amazon, the biggest retailer in the world, has signed a global partnership with HYROX, the fitness race that has gone from niche to everywhere in just a few years. It is Amazon's biggest move into fitness yet, and it says a lot about where the whole industry is heading. Here is what the deal includes, and why it matters even if you never plan to race.
First, what is HYROX?
If you have not come across it yet, HYROX is a fitness race that anyone can enter. Everyone does the same challenge: eight rounds of a 1km run, each one followed by a functional station like a sled push, rowing, a farmers carry or wall balls. No special skills, no team, just you against the clock. That simple, repeatable format is a big reason it has taken off. The 2026/27 season is on track for more than 2 million participants across 107 race weekends on six continents.
What is Amazon actually doing?
The partnership is broad. Here are the headlines.
- Dedicated HYROX shops on Amazon, sorted into fuel, performance tech, training and recovery, skin and body, and accessories. They are launching first in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands, with fast Prime delivery on eligible items.
- Amazon Music playlists built around each run and station, so your training and race day have a soundtrack.
- A travelling activation called The Gear Grab, popping up at major HYROX events across Europe all season, with a quiz that recommends your kit, hands-on recovery tech and physical challenges.
- Title sponsorship of HYROX London at ExCeL from 2 to 6 December 2026. Around 40,000 people took part across the weekend last year, and this one is expected to be even bigger.
Why is this such a big deal?
When a company the size of Amazon puts its weight behind fitness racing, it is a signal. Fitness is no longer a January resolution or a niche interest. It is mainstream, social, and something people build their year around. It also shows where the smart money is going: not just selling you a workout, but supporting the whole journey around it, the fuel, the recovery, the kit and the music. The experience, not just the exercise.
What does it mean for you?
Here is the good news. You do not need to race HYROX, or be anywhere near elite, to benefit from any of this. The same shift that made a giant like Amazon care about fitness is making training more accessible, better supported and a lot more rewarding for everyone. The barrier to starting has never been lower.
That is exactly what we believe at Edge. Fitness should feel good and fit your life, whether you are training for your first HYROX or just trying to move a bit more this week. And that idea of being rewarded for training, the one a brand like Amazon is now leaning into, is something we are building on too. Edge Rewards is on the way, a free way to get rewarded for the workouts you already do.
