Nike Run Club Achievements vs Edge Rewards: Badges or Real Rewards? (UK 2026)
Nike Run Club celebrates your runs with trophies, streaks and Run Levels, while Edge Rewards will turn any logged workout into points for real products from November, and you can use both.
TL;DR
- You do not have to choose. NRC achievements are digital recognition for your running, and Edge Rewards will turn the same runs, plus any other workout and your steps, into points for real products.
- Nike Run Club is free on the UK App Store. Its Achievements hold Challenge trophies, streaks and personal bests, and Run Levels track your total distance.
- Edge Rewards is our own free rewards programme and it is not live yet. Founding-member early access opens on Sunday 1 November 2026, and everyone else can join from Saturday 7 November 2026.
- Free Edge members will earn up to 50 points a day from logged workouts and steps, to spend on free items and discounts from partner brands.

Nike Run Club achievements and Edge Rewards reward you in different ways: NRC gives you digital trophies, streaks, personal bests and Run Levels inside the app, while Edge Rewards, launching in November 2026, will turn any logged workout and your daily steps into points you can spend on real products. You can use both, because runs recorded in NRC can reach Edge through Strava or Apple Health.
Edge Rewards is our own programme and is not live yet, so everything below about it describes how it will work at launch. The Nike side is based on Nike's own help pages at the time of writing. Edge is not affiliated with Nike.
What are Nike Run Club achievements?
Nike's help centre says the Achievements section in Nike Run Club shows past trophies from NRC Challenges, your activity streaks and your personal bests across different distances. The UK App Store listing talks about earning badges and trophies for streaks and personal bests. Here is what you can collect:
- Challenge trophies: finish a Challenge and a new trophy appears under your Achievements.
- Medals: in a custom Challenge you set up with friends, the top three finishers earn a gold, silver or bronze medal achievement.
- Streaks: NRC keeps track of your activity streak, so regular running is recognised over time.
- Personal bests: your best efforts across different distances are saved.
- Virtual high fives: Nike says the app cheers you on when you set a personal record, beat your last mile total or extend your run-day streak.
How do Nike Run Levels work?
Run Levels are based on one thing: the total distance you have logged in NRC. As your kilometres add up, the app moves you to the next level and colour. You will find yours in the Activity tab. Nike lists seven levels:
- Level 1, Yellow: 0 to 49 km
- Level 2, Orange: 50 to 249 km
- Level 3, Green: 250 to 999 km
- Level 4, Blue: 1,000 to 2,499 km
- Level 5, Purple: 2,500 to 4,999 km
- Level 6, Black: 5,000 to 14,999 km
- Level 7, Volt: more than 15,000 km
The early levels come quickly, which is a nice boost for new runners, while the top ones take years of steady running.
How do NRC Challenges work?
Challenges are where most trophies come from. Nike describes three types:
- Individual Challenges: run a set distance within a time limit, which is handy for staying consistent or getting back into running.
- Community Challenges: join runners around the world to reach a shared distance goal.
- Custom Challenges: pick your own distance and start and end times, then invite friends. This is where the gold, silver and bronze medals come in.
Nike says you join or create one from the Club tab on iPhone or the Challenges tab on Android. Menu names can change between app versions.
Is Nike Run Club free, and what does it count?
Yes, NRC is listed as free on the UK App Store, and Nike describes its NRC features as free for Nike Members. We could not find a paid tier for achievements or Run Levels at the time of writing.
NRC is built around running. It tracks outdoor runs with GPS, has an indoor mode for treadmills, and lets you add a run by hand from the Activity tab. Nike's help pages do not say whether manual runs count towards Challenges and levels. Nike's newsroom has said NRC can sync with Apple, Garmin and Coros watches, and upload your activities to Strava.
What NRC does not really cover is the rest of your training. Nike keeps its strength and other workouts in a separate app, Nike Training Club, and as far as we can tell from Nike's help pages, NRC's achievements and Run Levels are built on runs only.
What are NRC achievements good at?
- No cost: everything above comes with the free app.
- A long-term goal: Run Levels show how far you have come.
- Consistency: streaks and Challenges reward showing up week after week.
- Friendly rivalry: custom Challenges with medals add fun to an ordinary month.
What do you actually get from an NRC trophy?
NRC achievements are digital. You get the trophy in your Achievements, a level colour, your personal bests on record and a virtual high five. Nike Membership has its own perks, such as member offers in the Nike App, but we could not find anything on Nike's UK pages that links NRC trophies or levels to them.
For plenty of runners that is all the motivation they need. If you would also like your training to add up to something you can use in real life, that is the gap Edge Rewards fills. For the training plan side of the story, rather than rewards, read our full Nike Run Club vs Edge comparison.
What is Edge Rewards?
Edge Rewards is a free rewards programme inside the Edge app, built around one simple idea: get rewarded for moving. It is our own programme, and it is not live yet. Founding members on the waitlist get early access from Sunday 1 November 2026, and the public launch is on Saturday 7 November 2026.
Instead of trophies, you collect points. You spend them in an in-app marketplace on real products from partner brands, a mix of free items and discounts, in categories such as coffee and drinks, gels, snacks and bars, protein and supplements, and apparel and gear. The rewards are gifted by partner brands, and everyone earns and redeems. As a rough guide, about a week of training earns something like a free coffee. When you redeem in person, you show a one-tap screen at the counter.
How will you earn Edge points?
- Workouts: 1 point per minute of any logged workout, up to 50 points a day.
- Steps: 2.5 points per 1,000 steps, up to 25 points a day.
- Daily cap: the two add together, up to 50 points a day for free members. Anything over the cap does not roll over.
- Monthly reset: points reset to zero at the end of each calendar month, so spend them before the month ends.
This is the biggest difference from NRC. Any logged workout counts, not just runs: strength, HIIT, a ride or mobility all earn points, whether you enter it by hand or import it from Strava, Apple Health, Garmin or Coros. Points are counted by the minute, not by pace, so an easy 30-minute run earns the same as a fast one.
Edge Pro members, from £22.99 a month after a 7-day free trial that needs a card, earn double points with no daily max, plus exclusive prizes and secret offers.

Can you use Nike Run Club and Edge Rewards together?
Yes. Keep NRC for its guided runs, Challenges and trophies, and let the same runs earn Edge points. There are two routes:
- Through Strava: connect Strava in NRC's partner settings. Strava says only activities recorded after you connect will sync. Then connect Strava to Edge.
- Through Apple Health (iPhone): in your phone's Health settings, let Nike Run Club share workouts with Health. Then connect Apple Health to Edge.
If a run does not appear in Edge, check it has reached Strava or Apple Health first. Our guide on whether Edge Rewards work with Apple Watch, Garmin and Strava walks through each connection. Here is how a normal day could look once Edge Rewards is live:
- A 30-minute run in NRC adds to your Run Level and any Challenge you have joined.
- The run reaches Edge and earns 30 points.
- 6,000 steps across the day add 15 points, taking you to 45.
- A 20-minute strength session that evening would not count in NRC, but in Edge it takes you to the free daily cap of 50.
These numbers are examples to show how the rules work, not a promise of what any one person will earn. If you also wear a Garmin, our Garmin badges vs Edge Rewards comparison explains how its badges fit alongside.
Which one suits you?
- NRC achievements alone suit you if running is your main thing and digital trophies are all the motivation you need.
- Edge Rewards suits you if you want real products, you mix runs with strength and HIIT, or you want your steps to count.
- Both together make sense if you already love NRC: your trophies keep coming, and the same runs earn Edge points.
